Douchkirk, the four-year-old half-brother to Kadouchski and Douchkette (both winners for this stable) made a winning debut in a bumper at Stratford at the end of May. He had been here for two years prior to this victory so it had taken a while to get him to that stage, but the aim for most of that time had been to bring him along slowly, get his racing career started so we could make a worthwhile guess as to what potential he might have - and then, if he showed that he was indeed a racing prospect, get a syndicate together to race him. Happily, he has now indeed shown that he appears to have an exciting future under National Hunt rules, so we are now testing the waters to see what interest there might be in a syndicate.
We hope that you will appreciate the fact that, rather than ask people to get involved in a totally untried horse and just hope for the best, we have brought this horse along slowly over an extended period and have only offered him for sale now that he has provided a demonstration of potential. Placing a valuation on the horse is not easy even now, but we consider a figure of £20,000 is fair.
Anyway, the aim currently with Douchkirk (or Frankie, as he is generally known in the stable) is for him to run in a second bumper within the next two or three weeks (possibly at Stratford on 28th June). It would not be feasible to tie up the loose ends of any syndicate before then - plus, as outlined above, delaying formalizing anything until after his second race would give potential share-holders a better idea of what they were getting themselves into, because the last thing that we want would be to tie anyone into a horse at what is shown shortly after the formation of the syndicate to be an unrealistically high valuation - but we would be interested, please, to receive any expressions of interest so that we can start to draw the syndicate together.
Our idea would be to syndicate this horse into ten 10% shares - currently at an anticipated price of £2,000 per share - with the commitment that each share-holder would contribute £150 per month into the partnership's Weatherbys account, out of which all the horse's expenses would come and into which any earnings would go.
If you feel that you might be interested in joining this partnership, we would be delighted to hear from you on 07729 240917 or john@beverleyhousestables.com and to answer any questions you might have.
