Oh brother, Roy makes it a double

Not to be outdone by his little brother White Valiant, Roy Rocket bounced back in ripping form on his seasonal debut to win for the sixth time at Brighton on Tuesday.

Five of those wins have been in the hands of John Egan, who was in the saddle again and ignored Roy's antics in the stalls – something he still hasn't grown out of at the age of seven – to drop him out and settle him nicely towards the rear of the field. Roy loves nothing more than rattling up the hill at Brighton, picking off his rivals one by one, and John produced him perfectly again to win nicely by two lengths at 8/1.

It's been a lovely week for the family following White Valiant's second victory last Friday, and we hope that there will be plenty more to come from both of them this year.

Roy has become a firm favourite at Brighton and regularly stops to pose for photographs while he's in the parade ring. Let's hope the course will one day take up Matt Chapman's suggestion to name a race in his honour. Let's face it, how many horses have their own Darren Bird cartoon?
