Hope Is High wins the Bath Stayers' Series Final

The hugely consistent Hope Is High continued her tremendous run this season with victory in the final of the Bath Summer Stayers' Series, which was transferred to Yarmouth after damage to the track at Bath.

It was a stiff task for her carrying top weight and being rated another 7lbs higher than her previous win at Bath. She also tends to favour better conditions underfoot and drew the widest of all in stall 12, but Silvestre de Sousa gave her a masterful ride, switching her off at the back of the pack and saving as much ground as he could round the rail before making his run in the straight with three furlongs left to run. Once pulled wide and asked to go on, Hope picked up beautifully to launch a really strong challenge down the outside, passing the whole field to win by three-quarters of a length.

This was her third consecutive win and her fifth in total. She has given us a huge amount of fun all season, starting favourite in each of her nine starts in 2017, winning four, finishing second twice, third, and fourth twice. She is an absolute delight to have in the stable and out thanks in particular go to Jana Trnakova, who rides Hope every day.

We'd also like to offer our sincere thanks to the teams at Bath and Yarmouth racecourses, ARC and the BHA for acting so quickly to reschedule this race after the Bath meeting had to be cancelled last Saturday.
