Hope and Glory

Wednesday was a very happy day as we celebrated the first win for Hope Is High at Bath.

It looked a more difficult assignment than her first run for this stable – in which she finished second to Pacharana, a very strong favourite from Luca Cumani's stable – with several in-form horses in the line-up, including another short-priced favourite, this time for the Queen. Happily, Hope proved that the promise of her first run this season was no fluke when staying on strongly to win by a length from Fast And Hot, a last-time-out winner at Lingfield.

It was great to provide Josephine Gordon with another winner in the absence of Indira, and she reported that Hope still feels quite green, so hopefully as she becomes a more seasoned racehorse there will be more fun to be had over the next few seasons.

We're very lucky to have Hope Is High in the stable. She's a really nicely-bred filly from Kirsten Rausing's Alruccaba dynasty, which has served Lanwades Stud so well. She has some illustrious forebears, including the Group 1 winners Alborada, Albanova, Aussie Rules and Yesterday, so it would be nice to see her bring further honour to an already impressive family.
