Karma Chameleon ensured that our year ended on an excellent note, courtesy of his three quick-fire victories in December. Having turned three on New Year's Day, he has now graduated from nurseries to three-year-olds' handicaps in style, getting 2012 off to a flying start for the stable with his victory at Wolverhampton on 16th January.
This was our first runner of the year - and wouldn't it be lovely to think that all outings could be so pleasant! On a gloriously sunny winter afternoon at Wolverhampton, Karma - ridden a treat by Shane Kelly - travelled comfortably throughout the race before passing the post 1.75 lengths in front of the Mark Johnston-trained runner-up New Decade.
Life would be very easy if all horses were as straightforward as this admirable little trouper.
This win continued the great run of form for horses owned by the Emirates Entertainment Racing Club, whose Doug Watson-trained gelding Kilt Rock has been in similarly great heart in Dubai recently and who had just completed a four-timer of Jebel Ali victories by scoring under Tadgh O'Shea three days previously.
