Delatite delights at Sedgefield

Delatite gave us all a huge thrill when winning the bumper at Sedgefield by an impressive nine lengths with our old friend Will Kennedy on Tuesday.

Now five, he's taken a long time to come to hand but really has pulled himself together this year having started his racing career on Boxing Day. In the spring he was placed a couple of times at Towcester before a minor hold-up led to him having five months off the track leading up to his reappearance at Sedgefield.

We went there with a fair amount of confidence, especially as John rashly used the word "outstanding" to describe a piece of work the week before he ran, but the fact that he started at 12/1 points to the fact that is was a relatively strong field which included two point-to-point winners.

We're delighted for Steve McCormick, Hugh Fraser and Mark Ritchie, who own him with Emma and for the fact that he has finally got his dam Desiree off the mark with her first winner. Delatite  was also Emma's first winner as a breeder.  He has a two-year-old full-brother named Dear Alix who has recently been broken in by Lorna Fowler and her excellent team at Rahinston, and we look forward to welcoming him and another yearling half-brother by Sir Percy, to the stable next year.
